Merry Christmas

I hope all of you had a joyous and fun filled Christmas. Its the great season to spread your love, peace and warmth to all your friends and family (in fact you should do it all year round). Christmas brought about so many smiles, laughter and the special loving feeling in my heart!

This time, I hit the mall on Christmas eve ... the time when everyone is in the mood of sharing and shopping. Amidst all the Xmas carols, I got them to reveal what is the best gift that they have bought that day!!

  • A pair of ear rings for my best gal pal. She'll love this silver dangling one. She likes big accessories.              --- Petrina Tan, 18---
  • I bought this patent leather bag from MNG. I just love it when I saw it ... matches with everything in my wardrobe. Its a present for myself.            ---Zuliana, 25---
  • A trinklet box. She can put her many rings, bracelets, ear rings and necklaces all in here and think of me!               --- Marcus, 17---
  • A body care set from Body Shop. I love their olive range. I'm having dinner with the girls later and a gift swap too. So I'm not sure who will get it.                   --- Michelle, 25---
  • My little girl gets this pair of Adidas sneakers ... she's the sporty type and will love it. My son asked for this pair of football boots.                  ---Diana, 39---

Beads galore!

Think of handicraft, think of Sarawak!
The land of the hornbills in Malaysia is famous for their artwork .. be it pottery, wood carving and especially accessories. Sarawakian women are always dressed in colours with bangles, necklaces and angklets ... for them, having more accessories is a sign of prosperity.

But for the rest of the world, having a piece of their artwork in a treasure. Famous for their colours, the Sarawakians make excellent beaded accesories. Just like this one ....

Going at RM 25 or GBP 4.20 (BN 025) SOLD

Big is best

We all love our faces ... whatever shape it may be, its our gift, compliments from our parents. And it is wise, to wear things that highlights them. We may wear chokers or turtle necks. But in places where the weather is too hot, what can we do? Accessorise of course!!

Tie your hair back in a pony tail and allow a big earring to highlight your face. Let down your long tresses and allow the glimmer in the earring to shine
through. Let the earring dangle down from your ears if you have a short do.
Whatever style, these big charmers look excellent on you.

Going for RM 16 or GBP 2.8 (BE 024) SOLD

Wooden charm

There's no better way to highlight your face than wearing a good piece of art around your neck. For ages, people in asia have been stringing shells as necklaces, knocking into silver, weaving grass or even moulding clay beads. It was only later that they discovered carving beads out of wood .... and mind you, they make excellent jewelry.

I have been hooked on anything wooden. It just shows the authenticity and natural beauty. So here's a wooden necklace with silver beading up for grabs. And a matching bracelet is thrown in for free too.

Price RM 14 or GBP 2.50 (WN 0125)

Pretty feet

The foot: an interesting part of the human anatomy. When we’re born, they take our footprints, people count our toes and tickle our soles to hear that wonderful baby gurgle. Once we do start walking, we take our feet for granted. They get us where we want to go, and that’s just fine.

Women's feet are usually nicer than men's, and the foot fetish is a common obsession among men. Treat Yourself to a Professional Home Pedicure.

  • Whether you have hard little feet or larger, softer ones, your feet will appreciate a weekly soak and scrub. Especially for women like nurses or teachers, who spend hours on their feet each day, a dedicated footbath is essential to preserving not only the beauty of your feet, but their health and comfort too. Use the time to push back softened cuticles with an orange stick, to rub away calluses with a pumice stone, and finish by moisturizing and rubbing your feet.

  • Daily scrubbing with soap and a nail brush is a good start, but it’s only a start, if you want good-looking feet.

  • When it comes to toenails, there is no in-between. Clean, healthy, well-groomed toenails are sexy. Grubby, long, unhealthy toenails are nasty, and not to be tolerated. Toenails should be well-brushed with soapy water, clipped short and neat with clippers, and treated with anti-fungal medicine if nails are discolored, thick or peeling.

  • Even girls can get athlete’s foot (always wear flip-flops at the gym, at the pool, at the park, in any shower that is not your very own), and there topical medicines that can cure it. (If you don’t know what athlete's foot is, it’s a fungus that causes feet to burn, itch and peel).

  • Keep your feet smooth by using a pumice stone a couple of times a week, rub them with lotion to keep them soft, and use a clear polish if you don’t like brightly colored toes.

  • Showcase your sexy feet in strappy date-night sandals, sexy career pumps or silly, weekend, jelly thongs with a silver toe ring for an accent. (Never wear a toe ring and an anklet at the same time –it’s a huge Fashion Don’t).

Are you the type that buys accessories on vacations?

I asked several of my friends this question, " Are you the type that buys accessories on vacations?" And the answers are amazing. All Malaysian girls who comes from various back grounds and who travels extensively. Here is what they say.

- 'In fact I just came back from Singapore. Its the easiest souvenior I can buy, and my friends love it.'

- 'I make it a point to buy a piece from every country I visit. Its a memory. So far 12 and counting.'

- 'I prefer to buy traditional stuff, like food or art pieces. Accessories can be imported from anywhere in the world.'

- 'Yup. They are unique in every country and it just reflects their culture. Just like this Heart of the Ocean I got from Bali last year.'

- 'I do buy 1 or 2, and my friends know I like them, so everywhere they go, they buy me one.'

- 'Yes. I have glass beads from Europe and colorful strings from China. But my fav so far is the pearl necklace I got from Japan'.

Beads are a girls best friend

Remember when we were kids and our past times include sewing beads and threading them to make cute necklaces and ever so colorful bracelets? Well ... I don't think I ever grow out of them. Beading lets you have your own say in how you design your accessories. It lets you play with color and shapes. It lets you mix and match so much easier and its cheap!

So the next time you go to the store with your little girl, pick her up some beads for threading as it promotes her creativity. Who knows, you can get one box too and try your own hand and designing. And if you're too afraid of the loud colors, fret not, as it projects a colorful and more vibrant you.

Go crazy with beading. It can be to make accessories, decorate a plain blouse, put shine to your bags and even making a little handphone strap! Be creative and let me know your master piece too...

Show of importance

Ever been to a dinner to have the guests out shine the host? Ever went to a dinner and you approach the wrong 'host'? So how do you stand out from the crowd as if shouting I AM HERE! I AM HERE!
Now if you notice hard enough, the star of the night often wear a special band around their hand to symbolize 'IT'S ME! ITS ME!' Often times its a white flower, even during proms or annual dinners. I once had the privilege of making these special identifiers for someone's wedding. It was really sweet!
All the bridesmaids wore a maroon tube dress with this band. Simple and sweet. Everyone knew they were the best girls and I want to to enjoy just that too.

So here it is. Going at RM 8 or GBP 1.30. Do contact me if you want to order more for special events too.

Colours of innocence

Girls are made of rainbow colours and everything that is sweet, so the fairy tale says. So why shouldn't the pieces that we wear be sweet and dainty?
And nothing does it better than the colour of purity and innocence ... white. Have you ever wondered why princesses always wear white? This is why ... to project the beauty of grace. Add it with a touch of pastel shines, and you'll have the look of pure sweetness.
Ooh .. I need to water this down, its too sweet to handle.

Going for only RM 18 or GBP 2.80, this piece will make you the princess from within (WB 012).

70s fashion

Its back .. a blast from the past. Its true ... retro is really in.
And I believe that girls who partied at that time really had loads of fun. Dressing up, matching colors, searching for accessories and not to mention their wonderful poses for the camera. Look at her ... she's so well dressed. And come Fall 2008 .... the 70's is back again ... or it has alway been.

  • Our girl is wearing big ear rings. The thicker the rim is, the more it highlights your pretty face. Go for striking colors to bring out the vibrancy in you. Or if wearing colorful and patterned clothes, go for subtle colors like white, black or grey.
  • She is wearing a matching headband. Note that it doesn't have to be the same material as your clothes. There is nothing messier than hair in your face, so push it back up with one that is sweet and silky. Remember, choose the thickness of the bandbased on the size of your face.
  • Notice her belt. Belts these days comes in all shapes and colors. You can wear one to dress up your boring ol' office clothes or one to give shape to a plain frock on your day out with the gang. Just make sure once again. Thinner belts if you are petite and thicker, if you are tall.

Which era?

Going down memory lane ... I have been planning for an annual event and was thinking of a theme. ... should it be 70's, 80's or 90's? Cool right ....? All girls and even some guys love dressing up, so we'll let the accessories decide. The 70's with beads and chains, or the 80's with bright colors and attractive shine or the 90's where its all simple and sweet?

Oh! decisions......

Choosing the right necklace

I've asked so many people around and they say the necklace is the most important accessory a girl should have.  Perhaps, that is the sexiest part of the girls body for your eyes to see. Models have been known to make it big if they have perfect collars and necks that shows elegance and class. So how do you actually select the right kind of necklace for yourself?

  • If you're petite, it is best to wear collar-length or longer necklaces. Styles with V shapes and ones that fall below the breast but above the waist elongate the figure.
  • If you're of average height, you can wear necklaces of any length, unless you're full-figured. In that case, she should avoid necklaces that rest on the breastline.
  • If you're tall, almost any length goes well. The thin, tall woman may select chokers that cut the line of the neck and de-emphasize height. Necklaces made of stones or pearls of the same size are especially flattering to the tall woman
  • If you have an oval shape face, any shape necklace will work. A choker looks just as good as opera-length pearls or any necklace that comes to a V.
  • If you're round shape faced, look for long necklaces, 28" to 32" to give a dimension of length.
  • And if you have a heart shaped face, a choker necklace is a favorite style because it softens and diminishes the sharp angle of the chin.

Long or short?

Ooh .... there's a debate going on. Long or short hair ... keep it going. Its really interesting to know. All girls like it long ... girls like it, guys like it, and it does good in the name of fashion.

Short hair is sporty, chic and trendy. Guys like it on the girls next door. Girls in the troppical heat loves it too.

So before we come to a conclusion ... here's a sweet and pretty piece that is suitable for both long tresses and the short styles. Can't get enough of the clips!

Going at only RM 8.50 or GBP1.30. Hurry as only 3 clips left.
(BH 012) (SOLD) Pretty things go fast

Long hair has been voted

Though they don't say it, it obvious. As I was sipping my coffee on one of the outdoor cafes along the busy shopping area of Pavillion, KL. I did some observations (people watching is a super cool hobby). That out of 10 girls, 7 had long hair, 1 had medium lenght and 2 had short. Now ... of course I did not go up to them to ask their ages and such ...... but what I am certain is that that area is full of trendy people.

So the statistic speaks for itself. And so my reader friends have had their say too. Long hair is cool .... hmm, I am due for my hair cut .... but perhaps I should wait. Styling your hair is so much fun .. so is matching your hair do based on your dress or shopping for hair accessories. hahaha .. it doesn't take much for me to make up my mind.

Here is a unique item I got from my recent trip to Shanghai, China. Can you imagine them in your hair? Holding your pony tail up and decorating your pretty little head. Sweet!

Going only for RM 14.50 or GBP 2.20 (SH 011)

Tame your mane

We were bored, so we hit the internet and asked some random people one question. Well, the opinions really come from a wide database. There are people of different races, different age groups and even different genders.

And the question? - 'Which do you think is better? Short or long hair?'

-Short. Girls need to look sporty, fresh and playful too. Short hair is also less maintenence.-
(Kar Yee, 18, Hong Kong)

-Long is definitely better. My guy loves it and never allows me to cut it.-
(Deb, 23, Canada)

-I prefer long hair. I can style it anyway I want with all the different accessories.-
(Caroline, 21, Singapore)

-Girls with long hair shows more elegance. And they really know how to tease you with it.-
(Mark, 28, Australia)

-I'll always want to keep my hair short. At my age, long hair makes me look like an evil witch.-
(Jude, 43, Australia)

-I have no preference. What ever style the girl goes for, she needs to carry it with confidence.-
(Azlan, 30, Malaysia)

-In this hot weather, of course short. I don't want my hair to be looking all oily and sweaty.-
(Gracia, 28, Indonesia)

What's the verdict then? You judge ...

Sun catcher

No, not the kid's thing, I am talking about crystals. My passion for them started when my friend would buy me a Swarovski crystal figurine each time he visited me from Hong Kong. I've got a collection of them. My favorite is of course this beautiful crystal rocking horse. Its so pretty. Over the years, I've collected rabbits, bears, dogs and different kinds of animal figurines.

I put them on a shelve beside my window, where the sun reflects on them. And out comes the rainbow colors. Sweet!!
(PS: When are you visiting again?)

Caring for crystals

We all love diamonds ... but its gets pretty boring after a while .. its of the same color, shape and always small (*hint*) But crystal is different. The come in lots of colors. Some are translucent some are solid. They can be cut into different shapes and sizes and its cool to the touch. Even better still, we get to share it with the guys! ... Isn't it a fair world?

We all love crystals, and have a piece somewhere. Be it a necklace, earring, ring, bracelet (for guys too), or even on our clothes. We wear it with pride and suddenly, bah .... it gets dull.

So how to we care for our crystals?
  • Damage is usually done while moving it. Handle it as a fragile item
  • Keep them in a drawer away from dust, debris or oily stuff
  • If your crystal gets dusty, use a blow dryer on cool air to 'blow' the dust away
  • Do not stack or store crystals together or you might risk scratching its surface
  • Do not wrap crystals with tissue as it will encourage dampness
  • Store wisely as crystals crack easily in extreme hot or cold conditions
  • To clear finger prints of your crystal, use a little bith of dish washing liquid with a lint free cloth and hand wash it with moderate warm water. Air dry
  • Leave your crystal out in the sun (for a while) to capture the natural reflections of light

How to use hair sticks

Step1 Use hair sticks in place of combs, pins and clips. They work best on styles in which hair is twisted, gathered or rolled. Make your style as tight as possible before inserting a stick - it will loosen up gradually.
Step2 Envision the ideal placement of the sticks. Think of where to position decorative tips, for example. A second stick may be added to further secure the style, or simply for decoration.
Step3 Grip the stick at its widest portion. Avoid using the decorative top section as a lever; it might break off.
Step4 Insert the stick so that the tip and end are at the opposite angle of their final position. Instead of spearing a bun or twist, graze the roll or coil so that it collects about a 1-inch section of hair. Push the stick until the tip protrudes at least a fingertip in length.
Step5 Lift the stick like a lever and rotate it 180 degrees from the insertion point. Hook a small amount of the hair that's pulled flat against the head while pushing the stick through the style. When securing a bun, make sure to push the tip through the coil at the opposite end.
Step6 Practice and be patient. Hair sticks can be a difficult accessory to get used to. Rely on your sense of touch to guide their position and firmness of hold.

And now at the prime of life, I wanna share my joy of accessories too. Hence this site for all you fashionistas out there. We are all blessed with people around us, be it mothers, sisters, friens or neighbours. So share what we love with them.

Bazaars and all...

Shopping is a girl's favourite past time. And some guys love it too ... but that's minority. In KL, you will be spoilt for choices as to which mall to visit. I wonder how its like in other parts of the world. For me, my personal favourite is The Curve in Petaling Jaya. I love the bazzar there. You'll find lots of handmade accessories and unique pieces that only You will own. Thats what I like about them. If you search hard enough, you can find treasures.

But be weary though ... and remeber to bargain. Prices can get pretty high there. And try to visit all the shops before making a purchase. The other stall might have the exact same thing at half the price. oohh ..... A tip from me ....... go when the bazaar is about to close. Around 6-ish pm. If not you'll sweat like a ig and get squished by other hot bodies. That walk way is way too cramped ...

But anyway, I asked around, "Where do you like to go to shop for accessories?"

"Shopping malls. Like in Vincci or Diva. But chances of clashing is quite high."
( Lizzie, 19, Student)

"Bazaars, like this one (Curve). You can find nice things. But I don't come here often. I always end up hot and grumpy.
( Li Ching, 32, PR Manager)

"The little stalls at shopping centres. They have tons of stuff there. And they are trendy for for us."
( Farah, 15, Student)

"On the internet. In the comfort of my own home. There are a few good sites that displays their wares. But another great place is Khazanah in the malls. Unique but pricey."
(Jacklyn, 28, Journalist)

Sharing treasures

It may be a hard day for me at work and life may not be going all that well. My boss just rejected my paper work and my dog is sick..... I know its not the end of the world .......... BUT I NEED TO FIND A WAY TO CHEER ME UP!! And shopping is an instant pick me up. And to be more specific, shopping for beads, stones, accessories and just about any item you can use to decorate yourself brings an instant cheer to me.

Check out these 2 precious finds.

This red beauty shows the glamor of the princess who wears it. The darkness of it pendant just shows so much mysticism. Its marbled
texture just makes you want to focus on the piece of art on the stone. Matched with the right colored strings and cherry red beads, this
piece is not at all heavy.

Going at RM 19.90 (RN 011)

When I first saw this piece, I though of my vacation by the beach. Wearing my flip flops and my sunnies. Paired with this piece of necklace, its the ultimate beach wear. Surprisingly light and cool to the touch, I reccomend this to all you beach junkies out there. The pendant, made of a shell, forever remains cool. Whether you're out playing under the sun or chilling in the shopping malls, the shell will feel so cool to the touch on your chest.
That's not all, the beige color makes it so netral and it'll match just about any color.
Going for RM 19.90 (WN 011)

Treasured Finds

Freinds have been suggesting. Why not make your hobby into something you can share with everyone. So on my site, I'll share with you tips, comments, opinions and the greatest finds. So if you're interested in the pieces I've displayed, just give me a holler and I'll get back to you.

Black just goes well with every color. Black and black makes it the
gothic look, black on white has the fresh look, black on pastels
brings the color out and black on red highlights the contract.

One such piece is this black charm bracelet .. the black projects various color if seen from different angles. Not the plain old black ... but this, with a touch of silver, adds the class it needs.

Going for a mere steal of RM 15.00
Please quote item number BB 011.

Organizng your trinklets

I don't know if you have the same problem as me or not ..... but my mother always nag me .. "Why are your ear rings on the coffee table?" , "Why buy so many necklaces when you don't keep them properly?". And since today is Mother's day, its time to get organized and not make mum nag us so much. Here are some tips to stay neat, and it helps me find the exact accessory I need in a nick of time .. (and mum loves it too as there are no strays lying around anymore).

  • I know its a man's toy but get a tackle box to organize your ear rings. You can sort them by color, by texture or even by your mood. Do keep your ear rings on the plastic holder before you put them in the compatments if not they'll get all tangled up.
  • I have a wooden wardrobe. I stick pins in on the door and hang my necklaces on them. They don't get tangled and I can see easily, which would match my outfit.
  • On another wooden door, I place 2 pins and hang a wire horizontally. I then hang the earrings that do not come with the plastic holders.
  • When I buy accessories, I keep the see through plastic bag that they come in. I'll keep bracelets, ear rings, necklaces etc .. and place them in a box. Its easier to find stuff. Trust me!
  • Get a nice glass bowl and put your rings in them. You can find and easily see them from all angles.
  • Invest in suction caps with hooks. Place them all around your mirror so your favorite and most often worn accessories can be easily within reach.

Once you start arranging your accessories well, not only will you save time, you won't have to throw out your fav pieces because they are 'untangle-able'.

Sleek silver thing

I've never been so pleased in my life. I was practically
screaming with joy when I saw this precious necklace.
If there was a champagne bottle around, I'll immediately pop it open to celebrate. Simple and elegant pieces like these are hard to find.

I've found the perferct accessory and I have the perfect occasion to wear it. My college mate's wedding. I've got a V-neck dark purple velvet dress, pair it with my black strappy stillettos and I've got the look of a million dollars.

Ooh! Can't wait to show this item of to my girls!!

Look at what I found, perfect handwork, excellent color combination with a touch of playfulness and elegance.
We can pair it with a little black dress for the perfect date or with a plain spaghetti top with jeans for a day out with the girls.
You know what, we can be a little adventurous too ... pack your picnic basket and wear this beaded necklace with a tube and hot pants. The perfect outfit to make a guy have hots for you!

The right jewelry

Since ages ago, wone have been accessorizing themselves. And its all for making themselves look good, feel great and radiate in confidence. From the early days of wearing a tiger's tooth on your neck to having an elegant semi- precious stone to day, fashion accessories have evolved tremendously.

Women now adays are willing to invest in good accessories. And that is a brilliant approach.

1 outfit + a few accessories = a variety of new looks!

So enjoy accessory hunting. Two tips for all you accessory junkies out there, while picking the right item, bear this in mind :

  • What does it accessorize? A plain dress? A busy patterned top?
  • What’s the occasion you will be wear the jewelry? Fancy? Casual?

On the streets

We walked the streets of KL and posed as some fashion journalists. (hmm, we can be considered as one). And we targeted the most fashionable and trendy girls and asked them 1 simple question : .... "How important are accessories to you?"

- "I can be just wearing a plain black top and a pair of jeans. I'll look plain, but a perfect pair of chandelier ear rings will just add glamour to the look."
(Jay, 28, Marketing manager)

- "Very. I don't need to revamp my wardrobe often. In fact I have a few simple pieces, all I need is to get many many accessories to mix and match."
(Chia Mei, 25, teacher)

- "I love them. I got stuff in every colour and size. Its just so much fun to dress up for a weekend out with friends."
(Shalina, 17, student)

- "I just bought my self a pair of purple dangling ear rings. It will look so good with this choker that I bought too. And I always buy accessories to reward myself. This is for all my midnight oil burning.
(NurAslina, 20, student)

It's all about fashion

Do's

*
Do have a stash of basics on hand: T-shirts, jeans, black shawl
* Try something that's "not you" once in a while.
* Hold on to a few of your favorite outdated pieces. You never know!
* Add a couple of stylish pieces to your wardrobe each season.
* Do buy your accessories with a thought in mind, that you can pair
them with at least 3 pieces that you already have.
* Always wear your size. Clothes that are too small really do not look
  good.
* The perfect little black dress. Every closet should have one.
* Emphasize your best feature: nice face shape, healthy hair
* Invest in a scarf that goes with the colors you wear most.
* Get a good bag that will last for years, big enough for all your
  essentials, but not too big.
* Keep your jewelry organized. Even egg cartons or plastic silverware
  trays will do.

Don’ts
* Don't over accessorize.
* Force yourself to wear something for somebody else.
* Anything that's obviously left over from days of Einstein
* Wear jewelry that jingles when you walk.
* Pierce your ears more than twice in each lobe. Never wear earrings
so heavy that they stretch your lobes.
* Mix your metals. Silver jewelry is out of the question if your jacket
  has gold buttons.
* Wear rhinestones before 6 p.m.
* Squeeze a large neck into a dainty choker. It just doesn't work.
